Outside the Classroom

We make full use of our extensive on-site facilities to allow children to explore their curriculum areas outside of the classroom.

Each week the children have an opportunity to visit the well stocked Alice House Library. They are able to enjoy the books, listen to a story and choose a book to take home to share.

ICT Suite

In addition to the computers and iPads in the classroom, the children have a chance to use the ICT Suite to use more specialist programmes.

Pupils have weekly swimming lessons in our indoor pool to increase their confidence in the water. Our specialist teachers are extremely experienced with young children.

Our nursery children have their PE lessons in the Alice House Hall or in our extensive grounds on site. They benefit from the sports facilities used by the older pupils and have access to an excellent range of equipment to support their lessons.

Music is an important part of the curriculum, and the children love taking part in fun action songs and circle games. They learn new songs, play instruments and explore sounds as part of their varied lessons.

Our children are extremely fortunate to be taught by a dedicated dance teacher. Our purpose built dance studio provides the perfect environment for them to develop their talents, whether in ballet, modern, jazz or tap.

Outdoor Education

We are very fortunate to have beautiful grounds at Saint Martin’s and children enjoy a weekly trip to our Forest School area together with pupils from Reception. There they can build dens, climb trees, collect mini beasts, paint with mud and experience a wide range of other exciting outdoor activities.
