Diamonds are a girl’s best friend! (C)

Diamonds are definitely a girl’s best friend, but can you believe that they are made of the same type of carbon atoms as you find in graphite, that we use for pencils. The only difference between diamond and graphite is that the carbon atoms are arranged differently.

Today, at lunchtime, girls from Saint Martin’s had sticky fun as they attempted to make their own diamonds, using marshmallows and cocktail sticks.

Everyone made great efforts and the proof was in the pudding that science can be fun and delicious!
