International Day of the Girl – Martine Wright

In July 2005, the day after the Olympics were given to London, a terrible bombing killed many people. Martine Wright almost died and lost both her legs when an underground train was blown up in London. Amazingly, Martine competed in the London Paralympics playing for a sitting volleyball team in 2012.

On the court Martine has mastered serving, hitting, blocking and Libero. The team beat Canada at the 2010 world championships.

In the London Paralympics, her volleyball team were placed 8th.

Martine Wright has inspired me because when her life was nearly over she didn’t just stop and stay at home, she carried on like she was a normal person who could walk normally and achieved amazing things.
