The Arts

Throughout the school girls are encouraged to enjoy and appreciate the arts and to participate in this important aspect
of school life

In the evenings and at weekends there are opportunities for Junior and Senior girls to attend concerts, theatrical productions and art galleries in Birmingham, Stratford and London

Younger pupils enjoy local theatre and dance performances
Music

The school has a strong musical tradition, great emphasis being placed upon it from the Preparatory Department onwards

All girls have the opportunity to learn one or more instruments

There are Junior and Senior orchestras and choirs and a number of small groups and ensembles

We have an annual programme of concerts and musical productions and often provide choral and instrumental contributions for local events
Drama

Drama has always been a strength at Saint Martin’s

Through regular dramatic productions, in all age groups, girls develop skills and confidence both on stage and behind the scenes

Tuition is given for speech and drama examinations and senior girls are encouraged to take part in debating and public speaking competitions

There are also many opportunities for drama to be used in less formal ways in the curriculum
Sport

Sport plays a significant role in everyday life at Saint Martin’s from the earliest age onwards

We aim to cater for every level of interest and ability

The main sports are netball, hockey, tennis, swimming, rounders and athletics
