The Preparatory Department comprises the Nursery and
preparatory classes to Year 3
It has its own self-contained and specially designed accommodation including library, ICT room, multi-purpose hall and well-equipped playground
In a happy and relaxed atmosphere the Nursery provides a secure and stimulating environment for learning, play and friendship and lots of individual attention including daily
one-to-one teaching of literacy and numeracy skills
In Alice House (preparatory classes) the emphasis is on small groups and the personal attention of staff
The curriculum is balanced to encourage the acquisition of sound basic skills and includes specialist teaching in PE, other sports and creative activities including music, drama and dance
In Key Stage 1 tests the girls' results are well above the
national average
The girls develop self-confidence from the very earliest years
Each girl’s progress is monitored closely
Good discipline and consideration for others are integral parts
of the school ethos

On leaving the Preparatory Department, girls’ skills in reading, writing and numeracy have been well developed, their activities have become more challenging and they are ready for the more formal, abstract learning of the Junior School.
