Year 10 Netball Team are Double Winners

It has been an amazing week for the Year 10 Netball Team! First on Tuesday 14 March the team beat Lode Heath 26 – 2 in their final League match of the season, resulting in them winning the Borough League again this year. The League starts in Year 8 and the team have remained undefeated since then.

Yesterday the Year 10 team won the the U15 Solihull Borough Tournament. The girls were keen to maintain their unbeaten record in this tournament since Year 5 and have been training hard in anticipation.

Saint Martin’s won their group by successfully defeating Langley 6 – 3, Alderbrook 8 – 2, Light Hall 12 – 1 and Heart of England 12 – 7. The two semi-finals were Saint Martin’s v Tudor Grange and Solihull School v Langley.

As Saint Martin’s had only beaten Tudor Grange by 1 goal in their League match, we knew they would be tough competition. The girls’ determination and additional training paid off and they successfully won the semi-final 7 – 3.

The Year 10 team went on to play Langley again in the final. After the first few minutes Langley were winning 3 – 0, but the girls’ mature play and skill enabled them to pull back to 4 – 4 at half time.

In the second half Saint Martin’s showed exceptional game play and Langley were unable to score so Saint Martin’s pulled away to win 10 – 4.

Congratulations to all of the Year 10 team on their run of success – this means that the team has won the tournament for 6 continuous years – an amazing achievement!

Well done to Eve Armstrong, Giselle Barker, Emily Jervis, Hayley Langman, Jessica Murphy,  Imogen Onions, Rianna Sembi and Florence Whatley.
