Borough Swimming Champions

Saint Martin’s Swimmers are Borough Champions Again!

On Monday, 34 swimmers from Years 7 to Upper Sixth took part in the Solihull Borough Championships. All the practices proved to be well worth it as Saint Martin’s had some magnificent wins. We are delighted to announce that for the ninth year running we are Overall Borough Champions. The Year 7 team are also Borough Champions, as are the Year 9 team and the Senior team. The results of all of the races contributed to the overall points total and every person who swam was part of this amazing success.

Individual results are as follows:

Year 7

Lauryn Leedham – Backstroke Winner and Borough Champion

Carmen Whalley – Breaststroke Winner and Borough Champion

Karis Capelin – Front Crawl Winner and Borough Champion

Lauryn, Carmen, Karis and Amelia Bogira won both the Medley and Freestyle Relays

Together with the B team of Olwyn Witts, Francesca Donovan, Melissa Hall, Ella May and Charlotte Watson the Year 7 team are Borough Champions.

Year 8

Certificates go to the Year 8 team whose points tally was vital to the overall win for Saint Martin’s. Congratulations to Millie Gallagher, Millie Harper, Carli Jacobsen, Isabella Willman, Yasmin Wadsworth, Isabella Poppy, Lily Adlington and Sophie Bartley.

Year 9

Lucy Watson – Backstroke Winner and Borough Champion

Adele Reeves – Butterfly Winner and Borough Champion

Eve Armstrong, Giselle Barker, Adele Reeves and Lucy Watson won both the Medley and Freestyle Relays.

Together with Rebecca Hardie, Elizabeth Gahan, Zoe Wardle and Hayley Langman the Year 9 girls are also crowned Borough Champions.

Year 10 are to be commended for taking part and contributing to the overall points total. Well done to Francesca Kenna, Jade Horan, Ashleigh Murray, Sasah Hofton and Darcey Hawker who also receive certificates.

The Senior Team also swam brilliantly with Lucy Glover becoming Backstroke Borough Champion, Maria Lyri became Breaststroke Borough Champion and Sophie Stables the Butterfly Borough Champion. Together with Olivia Barker the team won both the Medley and Freestyle relays. This meant that the Senior team are also Borough Champions.

The Year 7 and Year 9 team now go through to represent Solihull at the Level 3 games in March.
