Storytelling Laureate visits School for World Book Day

As part of World Book Day celebrations the girls in Alice House were thrilled to be visited by Katrice Horsley, a professional storyteller. Katrice delighted the girls with a wide range of stories using minimal props. Katrice was made National Storytelling Laureate in January 2012, a two year honorary role to raise the profile of storytelling throughout the UK.

“She was amazing!” said Grace

“She didn’t have a book to read from … wow!” said Becky

The girls in Alice House and Junior School came in to School the next day dressed as their favourite book characters and took part in a World Book Day parade. There were girls dressed as traditional characters such as Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood and Bo Peep and more modern book characters, Harry Potter and Gangsta Granny. The teachers in Alice House also joined in the celebrations, dressing up and performing a short play, much to the girls delight.
