Teams from Year 8 and Year 9 have competed in the Solihull Borough Rounders Tournaments this week and both teams won! The Year 9 team will represent Solihull Borough at the Level 3 Games and the Year 8 team will compete at the National Finals.
On Tuesday Year 9 played superbly and were determined to win. In their group the scores were:
Saint Martin’s v Alderbrook 5½ – 4
v Light Hall 5½ – ½
v Tudor Grange 6 – ½
v Coleshill 6 – 1
As winners of the group they then played Arden in the semi-final, a much closer match resulting in a win of 4 – 2. The team played Solihull in the final in a really competitive match. With great batting, the Saint Martin’s team scored 6 rounders and went on to field well and win 6 – 5½. Saint Martin’s now represent Solihull Borough at the Level 3 Games on 6 July. Well done to the whole squad – a talented, committed and competitive team: Isabella Willman (Captain), Amelia Reeve, Millie Harper, Hannah Eames, Millie Gallagher, Yasmin Wadsworth, Sarah Sawyer, Lily Adlington, Katy Scott and Isabella Poppy.
The Year 8 team played in their Borough Tournament yesterday. They beat Alderbook 7 – 0 , St Peter’s 10 – 2½, Langley 8½ – 4 and Arden 3½ – 3. As winners of their group they then played Lode Heath in the semi-final and won 6 – 3½. The Saint Martin’s team met Solihull in the final and batted and fielded well to win 7½ – 5. The Year 8 team have therefore qualified for the National Finals.
