Congratulations to the Year 5 and 6 Rounders Teams who participated in the Borough tournament yesterday.
The Year 6 Saint Martin’s team beat Sharmans Cross 3 – 1½, Monkspath 3 – 1½, Greswold ½ – 0, Langley 2½ – 2 and drew against St Augustines 2 ½ – 2½.
Saint Martin’s fielding skills were solid and they were able to stop some of the big hitting boys from the other teams from scoring. The Year 6 team successfully won their group and qualified for the final. Unfortunately, as we have no boys in our team and cannot progress to the Level 3 Games, the girls were unable to compete in the final. However, all the girls have achieved full Rounders colours for their performance and commitment to the team. Congratulations to: Grace Pimlott – Captain, Martha Whatley, Matilda Bungey, Evie Cadman, Isobel Hall, Ria Odedra, Liberty Dempsey, Lottie Giles, Giorgia Dalley and Katie Smallwood.
The Year 5 team faced mainly Year 6 players but were determined and displayed some lovely fielding and batting skills. They beat Dickens Heath 5 – 3 and Berkswell 4 – 3; they drew 2 – 2 to Our Lady of Compassion and 4 – 4 to Widney School. They lost to Dorridge 2½ – 2 and Monkspath 5 – 2.
The final results put the Year 5 team in joint third place. Well done girls: Darcie Peers, Evie Peers, Freya Gallagher, Rebecca Prosser, Isabelle Deakin, Sukhveer Bhakar, Nancy Hanson, Lydia Dalley, Emaan Anwer and Zahra Ramji.
