House Arts Festival

Congratulations to all girls who competed in the House Arts Festival on Wednesday night. This was a unique event bringing together all of the Arts subjects. The girls produced some outstanding performances and our three professional judges had a difficult job choosing the winners. Performances included ballet, singing with makaton sign, choral drama pieces and musical theatre. The girls really got into the spirit of the competition and embraced the opportunity to work independently with different year groups.

Particular thanks should go to the Music and Performing Arts Scholars and the House Captains who took responsibility for planning and directing the acts in their own time. The House Captains also did a wonderful job of presenting the Festival, and the support that the girls gave to one another made this a really special event. One of the highlights of the evening was the Year 6 Dance performance, choreographed by Miss Felix. At the end of the evening the judges remarked that they were amazed by the depth of talent at Saint Martin’s.

The winners were:

Junior School Art – Swords

Senior School Art – Cloaks & Shields

Junior School English – Swords

Senior School English – Helmets

Junior School Drama – Swords

Senior School Drama – Swords

Junior School Dance – Cloaks

Senior School Dance – Beatrice Henrick – Swords

Music (Solo) – Alicia Burke – Helmets

The overall winners of the inaugural House Arts Cup were Swords. Congratulations to all girls who performed and contributed Art and Poetry, and thank you to all the staff and parents who supported the event.
