Hockey Results – Midlands Schools National Championships

On 10 November the U18 Hockey team played in the next round of the Midland Schools National Championships in Uttoexeter. The team left early to travel to Denstone College in Uttoexter, Staffordshire. They had a total of 4 games to play and knew that they would need to work hard against the opposition.

The first match was against the hosts, Denstone College. At half time we were drawing 1-1, however Denstone attacked down their right and scored a further 3 goals, resulting in 4-1 win to Denstone. The girls worked extremely hard and showed some good passing and team work making Denstone work hard to score their goals.

Next we played Northampton, the final result was 2-2. Our third match was against Princethorpe and with hard work and determination the girls only lost by one goal, final result 3-2.

Finally we played Oakham, who were in a class of their own. At the end of the first half we were 4-0 down, however the girls continued to play with their heads up and only lost by 2 goals in the second half.

All the girls worked hard, it was a long day and tough matches, and I knew they could not have given me any more effort.

Thank you to all the girls below and to Sharondip Jheeta in Year 8 who played magnificently in goal. Millie Gallagher, Year 9 and Flo Whatley, Year 10 both played superbly on the pitch with the Sixth Formers.

Well done to:

Issie Thomas (captain), Holly Allwood, Eleanor Bray, Georgia Brown, Lily Chandler-Hussain, Hannah Higley,Mia Mahoney, Ana Manolescu, Francesca Pattinson and Neha Sharma

Mrs Gallagher, PE Department
