The Year 8 Hockey team played against Arden in a League fixture last week. We had to defend well whilst still maintaining a strong attack. The team managed to get into some good goal scoring positions to win the match 5 – 0.
The Year 9 team represented Solihull South at the Level 3 games and won their first match against Kineton 1 – 0. The team improved their play throughout the morning but didn’t manage to win against the other teams they played.
Well done to all the players who took part, they all received certificates: Eve Armstrong, Elizabeth Gahan, Rebecca Hardie, Hayley Langman, Jessica Murphy, Imogen Onions, Georgina Pearson, Lucy Watson and Flo Whatley.
The Year 10 Hockey team played King Edwards Fiveways earlier in January. It was 0 – 0 at half time and we had several opportunities to score, but unfortunately could not get the ball into the back of the net. Then within the last 5 minutes Fiveways scored resulting in a 1 – 0 loss.
We had a mixed year team playing against Camphill U16 team last week. We started off gaining a 1 – 0 lead within 5 minutes, but their goal keeper was very experienced and we ended the first half at 1 – 0. In the second half the girls played extremely well as a team, passing the ball around and setting up 4 more excellent goals resulting in a 5 – 0 win.
Well done to the following girls: Millie Gallagher, Year 8; Flo Whatley and Elizabeth Gahan, Year 9; Emily Ratchford, Ellen Crockett and Ella Whatley, Year 10; Isabella Nicholson, Neha Sharma, Lily Chandler-Hussain and Olivia Barker, Year 11; Isobel Thomas, Lower Sixth and Morgan Chandler-Hussain, Upper Sixth. Goals were scored by Flo, Emily and Ellen.
Last Saturday the Year 7 and 10 teams played against Edgbaston. The Year 7 teams both played really well to win; the A team won 4 – 0, the B team won 4 – 2. The Year 10 girls played well together winning 3 – 0, goals were scored by Sasha Hofton and Ellen Crockett.
