Girls from Years 5 to Upper Sixth took part in a cast workshop at the MAC Theatre as part of the Shakespeare Schools Festival event www.ssf.uk.com. The girls are busy rehearsing for their performance of Richard III which will be staged at the MAC on 12 November. The National Festival, which is now in its 13th year, sees schools perform a half-hour abridgement of a Shakespeare play every night.
The cast workshop was run by professional actors and gave the girls the chance to develop their acting skills and performance techniques. The girls performed a short 5 minute extract of their version of Richard III and received valuable feedback from the professional actors. The workshop enabled the girls to get to know the stage where they will be performing in November. The stage management crew took the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the stage space as well as the sound and lighting systems which they will operate on the night.
Friends and family are welcome to come along and enjoy the performance, tickets are available from the MAC box office on 0121 446 3232.
