On Monday the Sixth Form Biologists and Psychologists were treated to a “Brain Day” event. Dr Guy Sutton came into school to introduce some recent research findings in the field of neuroscience. The girls were fascinated to hear about developments in our understanding in areas such as epigenetics, dementia and the treatment of individuals with brain damage.
The session culminated with Dr Sutton carrying out a dissection of a sheep brain. We had learnt about many structures of the human brain in our earlier sessions and he was able to show us some of the corresponding features in the sheep brain. The dissection was also of particular interest to those interested in careers in Medicine.
