Renowned children’s author Julia Jarman was welcomed back to School last week. Julia spent the day with girls from Nursery to Year 6 sharing her knowledge and love of writing. The girls listened intently as Julia described how she creates her book characters and their stories.
When asked for tips on how to become a writer Julia encouraged the girls to sit quietly for 10 minutes each day and allow their minds to clear, as it is at these moments that imaginations can come to life. Julia first visited School two years ago and the girls have become avid readers of her books, with some girls writing book reviews of Julia’s latest works on her website.
During her visit Julia kindly presented girls with prizes following the “Fantasy” story writing competition held in School for Years 1 to 6. Girls were tasked with writing their story in 500 words or less. The winners were:
Louisa Phillips, Year 1
Bella Broadhurst, Year 2
Isobel Hall, Year 3
Kaitlin Biggs-Pragnell, Year 4
Bonnie Gordon Young, Year 5
Sophie Dodds, Year 6
