Girls in Junior School have been celebrating reading even more than usual recently, beginning with the Book Fair which generated much enthusiasm. From the amount sold the School were able to choose £300 worth of books for the libraries.

Year 6 girls participated in the Readathon, the UK’s National Sponsored Reading Event, which challenges children to raise money by reading as many books as possible. The girls raised the enormous sum of £1210.92, which will be donated to the Readathon charities, CLIC Sargent and the Roald Dahl Foundation.

The girls said:
“It was an opportunity to read all day.”
“It was exciting to challenge yourself to the number of books you could read.”
“It was good to think you were helping to raise money for children who need it.”

All girls in Junior School also took part in World Book Day where they talked fluently to the class about their favourite book.
